Week 2 begins...

Now we've gone to a cathedral, eaten paella, been stared at by some locals and gone to the beach, it really feels like we're in Valencia! Saturday was a shopping and exploring day, and I found a few nice things to buy, including a ring that I'm sure will remind me of this trip whenever I wear it. The inside of the cathedral is breathtaking, and the connecting church has the most amazing painted ceiling. There was a wedding going on while we were looking around and taking pictures, which felt kind of bizarre to be intruding but also quite cool to witness. After that we found a restaurant which had the 'best paella in Valencia' according to the owner, but none of us were particularly impressed with the result, or the owner or price! Oh well, we wont go there again. Sunday was the sunniest day of the weekend took ourselves on the metro and tram to the beach, lazed in sun the sun and swam in the sea quite contentedly. I think we're going to make a beach visit a weekly activity while we're here, but a different beach each time. I fear we've brought English weather with us as the forecast for the next few days is rainy, but the sun should be out for the remainder of our time.

Today I had 4 classes, years 1, 2, 3 and 5, and I led an activity for each one. My mentor told me it would be best to do a revision activity for each class based on some of their previous modules, so I made a fruit and veg rainbow with the year 1s, animal charades with year 2, a 'run to the correct side' game of healthy and unhealthy foods with year 3's and finally a game of Simon Says to practice body parts with the year 5s. Nothing went perfectly, but everything went well enough and I'm very happy with that. The kids remain adorable, with a year 5 boy giving me some flowers in the morning and two little year 2s gifting me a play-doh crafted glass and a drawing. When I stop only playing the more fun activities with the kids they may stop liking me quite as much! But its great for now and I'm so glad I've been put in the primary school, teens don't give out hugs and flowers like these do.
